Support

Evenstone is a calm, private logbook for carbohydrates, medications, health readings and mood. It runs entirely on your iPhone.

Requires iOS 17 or later.

Getting help inside the app

Most questions are answered without leaving Evenstone. Tap the ? button in the top corner of any screen and you get that screen's help topics first: 36 short topics in plain language, covering the carb ring, logging food, medication reminders, your readings, trends, mood, and privacy.

The topic "What Evenstone is not" is worth a minute of anyone's time. It sets out exactly where the app stops.

Common questions

Do I need an account?

No. Evenstone has no account, no sign-in and no password. Nothing to create, nothing to forget, nothing to be leaked.

Where is my data?

Your food and medication log is on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. Your clinical readings (glucose, blood pressure, weight, waist, insulin) are in Apple Health. Evenstone keeps no copy of them and sends nothing anywhere. See the privacy policy.

How do I turn on mood tracking?

Mood tracking is optional and off until you turn it on. On Today, tap the gear icon (Settings) and turn on Track mood. Today then asks "How was your day?", and Trends gains Mood and Mood & medication cards. Evenstone never reminds you to log your mood.

How do I back up my log?

Settings → Your data → Export my data. That writes a single file containing your whole log, which you can save to Files, AirDrop to yourself, or email. Settings shows when you last exported, and Evenstone can optionally remind you about once a month.

Two things worth knowing: the file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere you trust; and your Apple Health readings are not in it, because they live in Apple Health with its own backup.

How do I restore it?

Settings → Your data → Restore from a file. A restore only ever adds and updates. It never deletes what's already there, and it won't duplicate your tiles or medications if you restore onto a fresh install.

Why doesn't my medication's name show on the Lock Screen?

Deliberately. A reminder says "Time for your morning dose" and nothing more, so anyone glancing at your phone learns only that you have a routine. The names exist only inside the app.

Why won't Evenstone work out my dose?

Also deliberate, and permanent. Evenstone records the amount you tell it and nothing more. It never calculates, suggests or adjusts a dose of any medicine. Dosing decisions belong with you and your care team.

I tapped Take by mistake. Can I undo it?

Yes. Open that dose and choose Not taken. If it's today's, the dose goes back to being due and the reminders pick up again. If it was an earlier day, it goes back to missed, and you can still mark it taken or skipped from there.

My readings aren't showing in Apple Health.

Check Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Evenstone and confirm the categories you want are switched on. Anything Evenstone couldn't save is held safely on your device and written the next time access is available. Nothing is lost in the meantime.

Does it work offline?

Always. Evenstone makes no network connections at all, so it behaves identically in aeroplane mode. The food database is on your phone.

Can I correct a day I forgot to log?

Yes. The arrows at the top of Today, Food, Meds and Health step back through the last seven days, and all four screens move together. When you're adding to a past day the button says so, so nothing lands on the wrong date.

Will my data survive a new phone?

Your iPhone's own backup includes Evenstone's data, and your Apple Health readings come across with Health. For a copy you control yourself, use Export my data before you switch.

How do I delete everything?

Delete the app; its data goes with it. Your Apple Health readings stay in Apple Health. Remove those in the Health app if you want them gone.

Reporting a problem

If something isn't working, it helps to include:

  • what you expected to happen, and what happened instead
  • the screen you were on
  • your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
  • the Evenstone version: iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Evenstone shows it, or check the App Store listing under your purchases

Please don't send screenshots containing your health readings unless they're necessary to show the problem. If you do, remember you're sending health information by email.

A note on what Evenstone is for

Evenstone logs and reminds. It never diagnoses anything, never decides a reading is good or bad, never adjusts a target for you, and never calculates a dose.

Every threshold in the app, your carb ceiling and your glucose range, is a reference you set, ideally with your care team.

Evenstone is not a replacement for your GP, your diabetes educator, your pharmacist, or any clinical advice. If a reading concerns you, or you feel unwell, contact your care team or seek medical help. Don't wait to log it.
