Health is for life.

So tracking needs a light touch: light enough to keep up, kind enough to keep at, and yours alone to see.

The Idea

Most health apps want more of your time. Evenstone wants less. It's a quiet logbook for the things you keep an eye on every day: carbohydrates, blood glucose, blood pressure, weight, your mood, and the medications you take. Log it in seconds, then put the phone down.

Evenstone started with managing diabetes day to day. That's the hardest daily test: carbs, glucose, blood pressure and medication, every single day, for life. If it's light enough for that, it's light enough for anyone. So it's equally at home with a blood pressure tablet, a thyroid pill, a weekly injection, or someone who simply wants to track food without a diet ideology attached. Design for the hardest case; everyone inherits the calm.

Roughly right is good enough

An approximation kept every day beats precision that burns you out by Thursday. One carb number per food, serves in half steps, the closest honest match from the database. Close enough, kept up daily, is what shows a pattern.

Aware, not anxious

Your health in the corner of your eye, never in your face. The ring never turns red. No haptic is ever tied to what a number means. An anxious user stops logging, and then the record lies.

Habits for a lifetime

The real risk with medication isn't one missed dose. It's quietly falling out of the habit. Streaks punish a bad week; a habit survives one. So there are no streaks, no badges and no guilt mechanics. Permanently.

Enjoy food, enjoy life

A treat once in a while is part of a good life, not a failure of one. Food is never coloured good or bad. Going over your ceiling is recorded as extra, never as failure.

Private by construction

Your condition is yours. No account, no cloud, no analytics, and no network connections at all. Privacy is what makes honesty free: nobody is watching, so there's no reason to fudge the log.

"Evenstone succeeding looks like less time in the app, not more."

Core Features

One Calm Ring

One Calm Ring

Your day's carbs fill a single ring toward a ceiling you set. The colour shows how much, never how well you did. Go over and a small warm arc marks the extra: never a red mark, never a telling-off. Press and hold the ring to write a private note on why the day went the way it did.

Log a Meal in Seconds

Log a Meal in Seconds

Search 3,741 Australian foods from AUSNUT 2023, fully offline, named the way you'd actually search for them: Weet-Bix, flat white, spag bol. Or tap a tile in your own Quick-pick gallery. Serves move in half steps, so you judge the plate by eye and never weigh anything.

How You Feel, Next to What You Take

Optional, and off until you turn it on. One tap a day on a five-face scale, with a feeling word or two if you like. Never nudged, never commented on. Trends shows your mood over time, marked with the days you started or stopped a medicine, and compares your mood on days you took every dose with days you missed one. It shows the pattern and leaves the meaning to you and your doctor.

Gentle Medication Reminders

Gentle Medication Reminders

A reminder that keeps asking until you take or skip: the note on the fridge, not the voice in your ear. Take, Remind again or Skip, straight from the Lock Screen. Medication names never appear there. Adherence is recorded honestly, with no streaks attached.

Nudges on Your Schedule

Nudges on Your Schedule

Morning weigh-in, glucose check, log today's food. Each nudge has its own time and days, fires once, and stays quiet if you've already logged. Only medication reminders keep asking.

Readings into Apple Health

Readings into Apple Health

Glucose, blood pressure, weight, waist and insulin, each entered with a quick slider and saved to Apple Health, your own secure record. Readings use mmol/L and kg. If Health can't take a write, Evenstone holds it on your phone and retries later. An entry is never lost.

Calm Trends

Calm Trends

9 charts: carbs, glucose, blood pressure, weight, waist, insulin, steps, adherence and meal split, plus Mood and Mood & medication when mood tracking is on. Week, month, three months, year or all time. Dashed markers show when a medication or your ceiling changed, so you can see what moved and why.

One Page for Your Appointment

A single-page summary of your last 90 days: what you logged, your averages and your doses, ready to hand across the desk. Made on your phone and shared only when you tap. It states your numbers and stops there. Reading them is your doctor's job.

From Your Home Screen

Three widgets. Quick pick: tap a tile and the food is logged without opening the app. Carbs today: your day's ring on the Home or Lock Screen. Next dose: when it's due, never which medicine it is.

Private by Design

No accountNo sign-inNo cloudNo analyticsNo ads

Evenstone makes no network connections at all. It works exactly the same in aeroplane mode, because there is nothing for it to connect to. The App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected, and that's literal.

Where your data lives

Your food, medication and mood log stays in the app's own storage on your phone. Your readings live in Apple Health, which is part of iOS. Evenstone keeps no separate copy of them. There is no server.

The only two things that can leave

A backup file you export, and a summary page you share. Both need your tap. Neither happens automatically, and neither goes to the developer.

Nothing on your Lock Screen

A reminder says "Time for your morning dose" and nothing more. Anyone glancing at your phone learns only that you have a routine. The names exist only inside the app.

What Evenstone Is Not

Evenstone logs and reminds. That's the whole job.

  • It never diagnoses.
  • It never rates a reading good or bad.
  • It never calculates a dose.

Every threshold in the app, your carb ceiling and your glucose range, is a reference you set yourself, ideally with your care team. What the numbers mean is a conversation for you and them. The app's job is to make sure the record you bring is one you actually kept.

"Enjoy your food, love your life, and let Evenstone keep the notes."

Technical Architecture

Architecture

SwiftUI + @Observable over three stores with strict ownership: HealthKit for readings, SwiftData for the app's own ledger, read-only SQLite for food

Food Database

AUSNUT 2023, 3,741 foods, bundled as read-only SQLite with full-text search. Built-in SQLite3, no wrapper library

Apple Health

Writes 7 types, reads 8. Only one file in the codebase imports HealthKit. Failed writes queue locally and retry on next launch

Networking

None. No URLSession anywhere, checked by grep. Works identically in aeroplane mode

Reminders

Local UserNotifications only, no push server. A persistent loop with Take, Remind again and Skip actions

Widgets & Intents

WidgetKit + App Intents over an App Group shared ledger, so a widget tap logs food without launching the app

Charts & Export

Swift Charts for 9 trend views, plus two for mood. On-device PDF clinician summary and a JSON ledger backup that restores by upsert

Dependencies & Quality

Zero third-party dependencies. 282 unit tests. 28 Architecture Decision Records
